Broadcasts are being viewed worldwide by a growing audience of Kenyan expatriates and Kenya-watchers

New York, NY -- Africast Global Media Inc., the world's leading broadcaster of African television over broadband Internet, is seeing a big surge in its viewership by Kenyans around the world and others who are keenly interested in following political developments in Kenya.

Africast (www.africast.tv) streams real-time and archived programming from KTN, Kenya’s premier TV network, to Kenyans in the Diaspora, for viewing online oncomputers and via IPTV direct to television sets.

As their homeland braced for one of the most hotly contested elections in its history, an increasing number of Kenyans abroad looked to Africast TV for timely coverage of developments and results. Africast’s live broadcasts have enabled Kenyans in the Diaspora to participate in the election process through programs such as "Race to State House," on Mondays at 9:40 pm local time; "DEBATE 07," Wednesdays at 7:35 pm local time; and the country’s presidential debates.

“The response and the comments we are getting from viewers, including some fairly lengthy notes of appreciation, have been overwhelmingly favorable,” says John Sarpong, Africast Chairman & CEO. “Never before has there been a U.S.-based multi- media, entertainment and information network devoted solely to quality Africa programming. Africast fills a void in the global Africa media market by providing intelligent and appealing entertainment to a community that is aware of its heritage and hungry for quality programming."

At the peak of the election coverage, Africast TV reported 120,000 Kenyan visitors to its site and 10,000 new subscribers. Africast currently provides African programming to subscribers in 50 countries.

When measured by the number of agreements it has signed with African ethnic channels (more than 40 channels in 25 African countries), Africast TV is the world's leading broadcaster of African ethnic television over broadband.

Africast TV, a subsidiary of Africast Global Media, Inc., offers diverse, Africa-focused entertainment, multi-media and information services to U.S. and worldwide audiences. For more information, visit www.africast.tv.
