Compact, Scalable Outside Plant Optical Distribution Cabinet From Telect Cost-Effectively Delivers Fiber-to-the-Home

New Enclosure Engineered as an Economical Alternative to Larger FTTx
Cabinets; Additional Products Expand Telect's Offering to Encompass
End-to-End Solutions

LIBERTY LAKE, Washington - Telect, Inc. recently unveiled a broad range
of products, systems, and solutions engineered for outside plant applications,
effectively expanding the company's product portfolio beyond its traditional
line of central office connectivity, power and equipment housing products.
Key to the outside plant product line is the new Telect 96-home optical
distribution cabinet, a compact enclosure that houses patch and splitter
capabilities in minimal space. Engineered specifically for applications
where providers are delivering fiber-to-the-home in smaller neighborhoods,
the compact, lightweight cabinet can be easily mounted on a pole to deliver
fiber optics to up to 96 homes.

"Not every neighborhood needs a large-capacity, bulky optical
distribution cabinet," said Mark Hawley, Telect's broadband solutions
program manager. "This new enclosure provides ample capacity up front for
most applications, and it's scalable to simply allow for growth in the
future."

Outside Plant Optical Distribution Cabinet Features Unique Stackable
Design

With Telect's new outside plant optical distribution cabinet, users
gain a fully configured solution that can be expanded as network capacity
grows, helping to manage overall costs and maximize capex budget dollars.
The base cabinet, which serves up to 96 homes in a space-saving design,
features integrated splitter modules that can be installed as paying
customers request services, helping to further manage costs.
This compact system (patent pending) is ideal for applications that
deliver fiber to home developments that do not require the large capacity
of traditional distribution cabinets. However, individual cabinets can be
stacked to enable network growth in 96-home increments, either on top of
each other in pad-mount applications or below each other in aerial
applications. Capacity expands up to 288 homes, providing a platform for
significant future growth.

In addition, the cabinet's innovative high-density design enables the
use of passive splitters with ratios as low as 1 x 4 while still
maintaining 96-home output density. This helps ensure that end users
continue to receive maximum bandwidth in the home as future applications
increase bandwidth demand. With comparable systems that only handle 1 x 32
splitters, future upgrades require additional cabinets. With the Telect
cabinet, providers need only change out the splitter modules to a lower
split ratio to deliver more optical bandwidth capacity to each end user.
Additional key features include:

-- Compact footprint: Small overall size minimizes impact on residential
developments.
-- Lightweight design: Makes it easy to hand-carry and install.
-- Stackable architecture: Enables service providers to expand capacity to
match end user take-rates.
-- Versatile mounting: Can be used in pole-mount, pad-mount, and
vault-mount applications.
-- Enhanced safety: Emergency restoration/maintenance feed integrated in
the cabinet.

technology farther from the central office.
"With these new products and systems, we're offering solutions that fit
from one end of the local communications network to the other, from the
central office through the outside plant and into the home," Hawley said.
"Whether you're a service provider, a developer, a builder or a home owner,
we have a solution that you can put into use to deliver triple-play
communications to end users."
