KRANJ, Slovenia -- Iskratel, a Slovenian telecommunications equipment
vendor, has tested the universal DSL access equipment compatibility of
its triple-play-enabled SI3000 MSAN Multi-Service Access Node. The
sixth annual testing event in the French town of Lannion, organized by
the ETSI Plugtest Service, has again proved to be of great importance
for the global development of much-in-demand high-speed-access
connections. |

VDSL2 is now a mature
technology, and a reliable and economic way of delivering
bandwidth-consuming multimedia services. Iskratel’s SI3000 MSAN VDSL2
blade and the VDSL2 Home Gateway “Proteus” have confirmed that the
connectivity between CO equipment, chipset and CPE vendors is
achieving the required performance standards. The technology is ready
for demanding, combined fiber-copper access-network configurations.
Iskratel has already proved this with around three hundred
already-operational VDSL2 access locations in public networks. As
Iskratel’s DSL Product manager, Mrs Staša Ilič, pointed out: “We are
glad that VDSL2, with its highly capable symmetrical transfers, is
closing the gap that separates it from the ADSL2+ level of reliability
and network-element interoperability. Copper-based subscriber
connections will remain an essential part of modern operators’
network-access infrastructure. The variety of access options will help
network and service providers minimize unnecessary costs when
deploying additional profitable services.” Combining VDSL2 with
various FTTx settings ensures a future-proof triple-play-proven
concept of providing end-user network access, rich in value-added
services.
Iskratel’s field-proven ADSL2+ and VDSL2 access solutions have brought
subscriber connections way beyond data transfers. The company is
focusing on developing its own full, triple-play-enabled access
products and solutions.
The Lannion Plugtest interoperability event was hosted by the European
Telecommunications Standards Institute and supported by the Full
Service Network Group. Its focus was set on the combined multi-vendor
DSL, WiFi and fiber-optic access equipment configurations for
triple-play service-stack provisioning.
Iskratel was one of 75 DSLAM, CPE, GPON and test-tool vendor companies
that joined interoperability testing in the two fields of emerging
access technologies, DSL/Fiber physical interoperability and
triple-play service-delivery support. |
