Milpitas, CA -- JDSU today announced that it has shipped more
than 21,000 units of the HST-3000, making it one of the industry's
most widely deployed triple-play test instruments. The HST-3000 is an
all-in-one handheld tester for more efficient broadband access network
service installation and maintenance.
Telecommunications network operators worldwide have adopted the
HST-3000 because it enables rapid, reliable and efficient deployment
of broadband services. KPN of the Netherlands, for example, has
adopted the HST-3000 to ensure the installation and maintenance of its
broadband triple-play services, including IPTV, VoIP, and other
services carried over ADSL2+. |

By providing powerful
automation features that improve field technician efficiency, the
HST-3000 enables KPN to efficiently deploy and effectively
troubleshoot its aggressive rollout of triple-play services to
business and residential customers throughout the Netherlands.
With broadband triple-play adoption increasing at a rapid pace,
service levels and reliable performance are fast becoming the
differentiating factors for carriers offering integrated voice, data
and video services. According to a recent industry study, more than 80
percent of European broadband users believe that customer service
would stay the same or improve if they received IP-based voice, video
and high-speed data services from one provider, and more than 30
percent said their biggest concern about IPTV is poor picture
quality."

The JDSU HST-3000 is a modular, hand-held test tool that scales to
address a broad spectrum of different access network technology
testing needs, from the physical layer to the application layer. It
was the first hand-held field test tool to provide basic turn-up and
troubleshooting of VoIP deployment, supporting physical layer analysis
through packet metrics, signaling analysis and voice quality
determination. HST-3000 capabilities allow packet capture of live VoIP
calls, including VoIP call storage and an integrated FTP capability to
send captured VoIP calls to be analyzed by JDSU's PVA-1000 software.
